At the same time, Toyota is also making efforts to prepare the market by increasing public awareness about electrified vehicles. This is considered to be part of Toyota’s commitment and contribution to supporting the government’s efforts to accelerate the implementation of electrification technology in Indonesia. It was stated that Toyota Indonesia is committed to taking part in efforts to disseminate electrified vehicles, such as BEV, PHEV, and HEV. Including the supply chain of the main components of electrification vehicles that are suitable for the conditions in Indonesia by taking into account the advantages and challenges of each technology.

Previously, Toyota supported research activities and comprehensive studies of electrification vehicles together with six universities in Indonesia. This study was initiated by the Ministry of Industry of the Republic of Indonesia in collaboration with the Ministry of Research and Higher Education of the Republic of Indonesia. In this activity, Toyota provides research tools in the form of 18 cars (6 Prius HEV, 6 Prius PHEV, and 6 Corolla internal combustion engines), data loggers, charging equipment, and technical assistance.

Indonesia is one of the important production and export bases for Toyota vehicles and components in the Asia Pacific. Toyota and Toyota group companies in Indonesia produce vehicles with high local content at the level of 75% -95% and also export automotive products in the form of completely built-up (CBU) vehicles, completely knock-down (CKD) vehicles. , gasoline and ethanol engines, components, and production aids. The complete or decomposed vehicles are also exported to more than 80 countries in Asia, Africa, Latin America, the Caribbean, the Pacific, and the Middle East. These local and export production contributed to a positive trade balance and supported industrial and economic development for Indonesia itself.
