Toyota Cooperates with Suzuki to Develop New Medium SUV in 2022!

2022 Toyota Suzuki's Medium SUV

These two giant companies are back to developing a new car together for release in 2022. So what car are these two manufacturers currently developing? Well, reportedly Toyota and Maruti Suzuki wanted to show their feet into the midsize SUV segment. Not long before this, Toyota released its newest subCompact SUV / Crossover, the Toyota Urban Cruiser which is based on the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza, and now it seems that the Japanese manufacturer is looking to expand their range of models in India. Quoted from GaadiWaadi, Toyota and Suzuki are planning to collaborate with a medium-sized SUV.

This Midsize SUV will fight against the Kia Seltos, Hyundai Creta, and Nissan Kicks, one of the most competitive segments in India. The thing that will differentiate the cars made by Toyota and Maruti Suzuki is the design where the Midsize SUV of Toyota will have its own styling compared to its Maruti Suzuki counterpart. For the matter of the platform, it is possible that this car will use the DNGA (Daihatsu New Global Architecture) chassis in Toyota Raize and Daihatsu Rocky. In actual dimensions and class, the Toyota Raize and Daihatsu Rocky are still the same sizes as the Toyota Land Cruiser and Suzuki Vitara Brezza.

Maybe both of them just borrowed the platform and expanded their size to be bigger than the two existing products. Because we know that the Toyota Raize and Daihatsu Rocky are clearly not a mid-size SUV, instead they are included in the small size segment, aka Mini SUV. Information regarding the features in the cabin and the type of engine that will be used has not been released by both parties but it is likely that this car will be released in early 2022. Now we can only wait for Toyota and Maruti Suzuki to release more information about their latest Midsize SUV.
