2023 KIA Niro–The second-generation Kia Niro is stylistically distinct from its predecessor, with designers selecting a stronger approach inspired by the 2019 HabaNiro concept. In the modern Sportage, there are also hints, particularly on the robust shoulders, upright windows, and interiors. Kia believes that the pillar C, which is painted a different color than the rest of the car, increases airflow and thus aerodynamics.

2023 KIA Niro Exterior
What makes Niro’s new design stand out is the back. If you’re like me, the first thing that springs to mind is the contrast strip between the taillights and the C-pillars. Kia argues that its design emphasizes modernism and appeals to a wider audience by combining simple surface treatments with dynamic portions. The C pillar strip was inspired by the HabaNiro idea. Thankfully, it softened as the notion progressed. Except for the little rear lights that blend in with the back and the bottom bumper that seems like it was ripped from another car and placed upside down, the rear is very basic.

Recycled wallpaper for the headliners, Bio PU with Tencel from eucalyptus leaves for the upholstery, and BTX-free paint (benzene, toluene, and xylene) on the door panels are among the new recycled materials used throughout the cabin. They also have a high-tech lightweight chair mechanism that improves the chairs’ spaciousness, comfort, and elegance. A coat hanger is located on the back cover of the front headrest, which is tiny in size. According to Kia, the headliner is made of recycled wallpaper, while the seats are made of Bio PU with Tencel from eucalyptus leaves. The door panels are painted with BTX, an environmentally friendly water-based paint that is free of benzene, toluene, and xylene isomers.
The interior has also been completely redesigned, with a dashboard that is identical to that of the new Sportage. We’re already aware with Kia’s side-by-side screens, infotainment with distinct controls for climate settings and other features. We prefer this setup since it allows us to immediately access key facilities without having to search through the menu. The Niro’s clunky gear levers were previously replaced with sleeker rotary knobs, freeing up more space at the bottom of the center console. The new shifter is flanked by physical buttons for heated and ventilated seats, heated steering wheels, auto-hold functions, and parking assistance systems.
2023 KIA Niro Powertrain
The new car will be available in three different configurations: hybrid (Niro HEV), plug-in hybrid (Niro PHEV), and battery-electric (Niro EV). The powertrain for the new Niro EV has yet to be announced, but it is expected to outperform the existing 201 horsepower and 239-mile range models. Like the 2022 EV6, the vehicle could include an 800-volt electrical system and two-way charging. The Niro PHEV contains technology that automatically switches the car to electric mode based on its location. When entering a city or residential area, as well as schools and hospitals, the feature will choose an electric mode based on GPS data or driving history. It also recognizes frequently visited areas, such as your house or office, as power zones.Kia will continue to release electric versions of vehicles with internal combustion engines, such as the new Niro EV, despite the introduction of more specialist EVs like the EV6 (the EV9 is also on the way). By the end of 2026, Kia plans to have 11 electric vehicles in its lineup, with just seven of them dedicated to electric vehicles.
2023 KIA Niro Price & Release date
The Niro’s pricing, release date, and specifications have yet to be revealed in the United States, although Kia promises it will be available in HEV, PHEV, and EV powertrains next year.
